sKickoff of the “Chip Connect BW” Project Successfully Launched at ITIV

The “Chip Connect BW” project has officially launched at ITIV. During the kickoff workshop, partners from research, industry, and academia came together to strengthen collaboration and drive the development of a robust chip‑design network in Baden‑Württemberg. With a strong focus on networking, technology transfer, and close cooperation, the project sets the foundation for future innovation in the region.

On September 14, 2025, KIT Chipdesign House successfully taped out the reference RISC-V SoC for the ITIV SoC lab. The fully open source 3.42 mm2 design uses the IHP SG13G2 130nm Open PDK for tapeout. Starting in WS25/26, students will explore this full chip design flow—up to tapeout—in the course.
