Network

Network

KCH intends to establish a partner network and database including regional, national and international industry and research partners. This will not only include companies and universities, but also open-source communities, schools, institutions for professional training, and more.

KCH does not intend to compete with preexisting, well-established chip design networks in Germany, but rather to integrate with them and complement them. The KCH network will mainly be used to strengthen regional ties for education and industry cooperation. Spanning a wide range of competence areas in chip design, the network will be used to build and support research projects in Baden-Württemberg. It will also be used in education to establish ties between industry and KIT students through the organization and brokering of master's theses, internships, working students and jobs for alumni.

We will also invite external speakers for guest lectures, workshops, summer schools and further educational events using this network. Ultimately, we are aiming to improve teaching and adapt our courses to industry requirements, which will be derived through feedback from partners in the network.

Extending Existing Relations

The KCH network is built on top of the existing collaboration with renowned industries and academic groups at both national and international levels. At the Chair of Dependable Nanocomputing (CDNC) led by Prof. Mehdi Tahoori, there is a strong collaboration between national universities, including Darmstadt University, Kaiserslautern University, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Technical University of Munich, and Dresden. On the international level, CDNC has an ongoing collaboration with the National University of Athens in Greece and the Grenoble Institute of Engineering in France. Besides the academic groups, CDNC has been collaborating with industries such as Intel, Siemens EDA, Infineon Technologies, Fraunhofer, imec, and Synopsys.

At the Institut für Technik der Informationsverarbeitung (ITIV), Prof. Jürgen Becker's group has strong industry-level collaborations with well-established national and international companies, including Infineon, Texas Instrument, KALRAY, ST Microelectronics, NXP, Dreamchip, Bosch, and BMW.  ITIV also has strong ties to regional, national and international university partners, including Heidelberg University, University of Stuttgart, Technical University of Munich, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Technical University of Darmstadt, University of Lübeck, Queen's University Belfast and more.

The Chair of Embedded Systems (CES), led by Prof. Jörg Henkel, collaborates with both academic and industrial partners to advance research and innovation in embedded systems. In academia, CES works closely with leading institutions such as Kaiserslautern University, the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, the Technical University of Munich, and TU Dortmund. Additionally, CES has established collaborations with international universities, including the University of Texas at Austin, the University of New South Wales, TU Wien, and the University of Patras. On the industry side, CES partners with companies such as Huawei, Emtrix, and DATEV eG, fostering knowledge exchange and technological advancements in the field.
